Dubai-based Augustus Media acquires CAM Plus Sports

Dubai-based sports systems integrator Augustus Media has acquired startup Cam Plus Sports aiming to make local sports more accessible by broadcasting live matches and on-demand recordings.

Founded in 2021 by Ismail Al Manzni, Cam Plus Sports broadcasts shows for various sports clubs and schools. It can be watched from anywhere, live or later on demand thanks to the app’s unique availability.

CamPlus Sports will be awarded to Smashi TV, Augustus Media’s commercial technology and live streaming service in the Middle East, with this acquisition. Therefore, the content will be incorporated into Smashi’s OTT programming under the Smashi Sports brand.

Smashi Sports will build on its sports content business by entering the live sports space by renaming Cam Plus Sports.

As part of the acquisition, Augustus Media will have the rights to content and technology from CAM Plus Sport to bring live sports to its commercial technology and live streaming service Smashi TV. CAM.

“This acquisition will bring many additions to sports and federations, such as interviews with club and federation officials, players and coaches, as well as commentary and match highlights.” Ismail Al Mazmi, founder of CamPlus Sports, commented.

Augustus Media also secured broadcast rights from the UAE federations for volleyball, handball and futsal with the acquisition. In addition to live sports, Augustus also owns CAM Plus Sport’s sixteen AI cameras from sports video and analytics solutions provider Pixellot.

Smashi Sports will explore opportunities for the UAE football and basketball associations to improve its streaming offerings – as plans include expanding into popular sports across the region in the future with members of its project, production and commercial team.
