Footage of a handball by Ivan Toney on the goal line a few years ago is going viral as he faces a lengthy ban after receiving a betting charge.
The Brentford striker is being punished by the Football Association for 232 alleged breaches of betting rules, with the alleged breaches taking place between February 25, 2017 and January 23, 2021.
Toney, 26, has scored 10 Premier League goals this season but missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad, which left some fans disappointed.

Brentford said in a statement: “The club has been in discussion with Ivan and his legal representatives. These conversations will continue in private.
The statement continued: “We will make no further comment until the matter is resolved.”
In a statement today, the FA confirmed: “Ivan Toney has been charged with misconduct in relation to an alleged breach of FA betting rules.
“The Brentford FC striker is alleged to have breached FA Rule E8 232 times between February 25, 2017 and January 23, 2021.
“Ivan Toney has until Thursday, November 24, 2022 to respond.”
The striker took to Twitter to post a statement on the situation on November 6.
He wrote: “I am aware of an article about me in a national newspaper today.
“I have been assisting the Football Association with their investigations and I will not comment until that investigation is completed.
“I am a proud Englishman and it was always my childhood dream to play for my country in a World Cup final.”
Following today’s news, Brentford issued the following statement: “Brentford FC have been informed that Ivan Toney has been charged with breaching FA Rule E8.
“The Club has had discussions with Ivan and his legal representatives about this and these conversations will continue in private.
“We will make no further comment until the matter is resolved.”
Toney’s alleged violations span from 2017, when Toney was on Newcastle’s books, to 2021, after joining Brentford from Peterborough.
During the period stated in the FA charge, Toney played for four different clubs – Scunthorpe United, Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United and Brentford.
The FA have strict betting rules and if a footballer is found guilty they can impose “financial penalties, suspensions and in some cases lifetime bans”.
In light of this news, old footage has resurfaced showing the moment Ivan Toney was sent off for a deliberate handball, preventing his opponent from scoring. Take a look for yourself below…

England international Kieran Trippier has been penalized for breaking FA betting rules after telling a friend to ‘bundle up’ ahead of his move from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid in 2019.
Trippier did not directly place a bet, but following an investigation he was banned from all football activity for ten weeks and fined £70,000.
In 2016, Joey Barton was convicted of breaking betting rules after placing 1,260 bets over ten years.
The following April, he was banned for 18 months, ending his career by retiring instead of deciding to appeal his sentence.
Daniel Sturridge was also handed a four-month ban in January 2018 after being found guilty of passing on transfer information.
He was also fined £150,000 and Turkish club Trabzonspor terminated his contract.

@ScottWallace_: What exactly is it about the Peterborough players protesting here? hahaha
@jxmiewilkins: This Ivan Toney thing reminds me of when Joey Barton once bet on himself to get a yellow card in a game and failed to do so
