October was an extremely successful month for Westmeath GAA Handball. Earlier this month a GAA national handball tutor came to Mullingar.
They had 22 teachers from 11 primary and post-primary schools attending the handball teacher development session, each receiving a school kit provided by Westmeath GAA Handball so they have the equipment to get started straight away.
We wish all the teachers the best of luck with the introduction of handball in their schools and look forward to organizing an end of year event for the students.
After training all the teachers, we then released our new website.
We hope the website will be a good resource for schools, clubs and players across the county. Keep up to date with upcoming matches and tournaments in the news section.
Many thanks to all members of Westmeath County Council for their contribution to the website and also congratulations to all who have worked on the project.

Multyfarnham Handball Club then hosted some of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals of the Leinster WallBall Championship over the past two weekends.
The Westmeath players were delighted to have a home county game for the event. Aoife McCarthy won gold at the Ladies Open and will take part in the All-Ireland semi-final against Catriona Casey from Cork in the coming weeks.
Robbie McCarthy Snr is also on his way to the All-Ireland semi-finals after beating Dublin’s Eugene Kennedy in what can only be described as a fantastic display of handball.
Thanks to Multyfarnham Handball Club for hosting the games and providing refreshments for everyone. Thanks also to the Mullingar reps who traveled to Multyfarnham to assist with the refereeing and line adjudication.
Congratulations to all the players who qualified for the All-Ireland Semi-Finals and we wish them the best of luck.
